Home-Based Assessment Writers

We are looking for Consultants to work with us on writing and reviewing assessments in the following subjects:


• Level 3 ICT and Digital Skills writers

• Education and Training (teacher training) &/or Assessor and TAQA Writers

• Functional Skills English - Entry Levels 1, 2, 3 and Levels 1 and 2

• Construction – In trades such as Plastering, Painting and Decorating, Bricklaying and Carpentry and Joinery.

This is a great opportunity for education professionals with genuine passion and expertise in their subject and will be responsible for writing and reviewing units, assessments, indicative content and supporting resources.


This role can be undertaken alongside teaching commitments, although you may be expected to attend a limited number of meetings in Lancaster; some can be electronic.

Some of the key desirables of the role are:

• Subject knowledge in Level 2 or 3 subjects or above

• Subject knowledge in Entry Levels 1, 2, 3 and Levels 1 and 2 Functional Skills English qualifications

• Teaching or assessing at Level 2 or 3 qualifications or above

• Insight into topics that will engage and interest learners

• Awareness of assessment methodology and issues of validity and reliability

• Attention to detail and ability to give clear and accurate explanations

• Meeting deadlines


We would be particularly interested in candidates that have experience of working in education and/or an understanding of awarding body procedures and processes.

Freelance Qualification & Assessment Developer - L2 Plastering Operations

We are looking for experts in the field of plastering to support in our exciting new Technical Occupation Entry qualifications which will start teaching from September 2025. Your technical and operational knowledge and skills will be pivotal to informing the development of the qualification for the future plastering workforce. This is freelance work which can be undertaken remotely.


In developing the qualification and assessments you will be expected to:

• Develop specifications to the industry expectations and regulatory requirements determined by the L2 Plastering Occupational Standard
• Develop assessment materials which align to the specification, occupational standard and industry level expectations
• Attend meetings (online or face to face) with the Product Development Team and wider stakeholders such as employers
• Contribute to the annual review cycle of the qualification

Some of our desirable criteria includes:

• Industry specific plastering qualification
• Industry experience in plastering
• Experience of developing assessment materials or opportunities
• Knowledge of vocational education
• Experience of working with awarding bodies and their procedures
• Attention to detail
• Excellent communication
• Meeting deadlines
